Disappointing Moleskine

What a disappointment!  I’m a devout moleskine carrier (pocket squared notebook – 192 pages) and decided to try the soft cover version.  I typically carry the notebook in my back pocket, so I sit on it all the time.  For the hardcover version, I add extra tape to the cover to prevent it from falling apart and given that I go through one about every 6 months, that seems to work fine.

Well, the soft cover couldn’t take the heat.  Apparently the glue just gave out and the cover broke off.  You can see the results in the picture.  The last page of the notebook tore away from the rest (p 191) and that pretty much ended my use of it.  Bummer — I had high hopes for the soft cover version, but I’m back to the hardcover for now.

Las Vegas Motorcycle Trip

Now there’s a couple of happy motorcycle dudes.  Here’s a photo from a 3 day Las Vegas ride I did with my dad.  We rode a total of 800 miles, covering 3 states, including a long stretch on the Mother Road, Route 66.

Pull-Ups – Get Some And Then Get Some More

Get some, and then get some more.  Just put in the Studbar Pullup Bar and have been working on my pullups.  Yup, I continue to be a fitness geek.  This bar is awesome.  The rafters in my garage are 2x4s so I may sister them up just to make me feel a little better about not pulling down the roof when I’m using it, but it generally feels pretty solid.  The crossbar itself has a little flex to it, which is also good.

Of course, we all gave it a try — and have the sore hands to prove it.

Journaling

Fascinating website on journaling. I’m a pen and paper guy — I carry a Moleskine notebook in my back pocket all the time — I should write down what’s going on in my life in addition to all of the work notes that I take.  I like some of the ideas that this website proposes for keeping things going if you journal.
