bits about the real and virtual worlds

7047-469-002f (32k image)I ran the Seattle Half Marathon today (13.1 miles). It was one of the toughest things I think I’ve ever done. I’ve been running 3-4 miles about 5 days a week for a while now, but decided to step it up and see if I could do something like this. My routine was to continue a 4 mile run about 3 times a week and then do a long run on the weekend. The goal? To finish.

And finish I did — no stopping or walking. I trudged the entire 13.1 miles with a finishing time of 2:43:31. No awards for that time, of course, but I felt like it was a pretty great accomplishment.

Probably the most unexpected part was the weather. It looked like it was all teed up to be rainy and miserable today, but to the contrary, it was really a great day to be out for a run.
